After a few years without a Porsche (used to have an Ocean Blue '99 Boxster), I'm so happy to have just purchased a 1994 Midnight Blue / Tan interior 968 coupe. This is my first post, new to this fantastic forum!



Bought it from a local Doctor who was the 2nd owner. He had it for 8 years. Came with all service records and I mean all of them. It has 119k miles but drives as if it had 1/2 the amount of miles. The previous owner serviced the car very well. Got a PPI from my local Porsche mechanic and everything checked out fine.



I'm one happy 968 owner. Midnight Blue metallic looks sharp and reminds me of the Ocean Blue Boxster. My two kids love it and have named it "Sally" after the 911 from the movie "Cars."



Look forward to hanging out on this forum and participating in the local Porsche Clubs again.

Nice coupe. The color combo works well. Your not going to have too many more years w/ them back there smiling.



I drove my son and his friend to the court and one had to sit/lay in the back. Not a good look.

One important point that Pete Fitzpatrick of RS Barn made at Hershey was the critical need to inspect the cam assembly on a regular basis. At 119k if you do not know for certain that a good wrench has inspected the cam system you should have that done ASAP. There is a DIY article here on Forums if memory serves.

Let's not forget - RUBBER!!! There are many rubber parts (hoses - water, PS, hydraulic - bushings, belts) that deteriorate with age and may not have been attended to. Then, of course, there's the "standard" items such as heater valve (prone to failure, if your car still has the original it's probably worth changing to avoid the results of an unscheduled failure).



Not trying to scare you at all, and many of these items may already have been addressed. As many of us have learned, preventive maintenance is much better than "fix it after it breaks" maintenance.

Looks great. As a relative newcomer myself I highly recommend spending some serious time on this site. The folks here know the 68 better than anyone on the planet. Has been invaluable to me.



Is the 8 in the background yours as well?

Thanks everybody for the great info. I plan to spend some time on this site. Actually discovering this site is what encouraged me to get the 968. With such a rare Porsche, leveraging the community at large is a huge plus.



Yes, have a 2006 Mazda RX-8 Galaxy Grey w/Touring package. After a week with the 968, overall I like it better than the RX8. They are different animals but similar in some regards (2+2, similar performance specs) but I'm just really impressed with the 968 ride quality and suspension vs. RX8. Especially the 12 yr old difference between them. The 968's built quality is fantastic.

I agree completely. I have the 04 RX8 GT and use it as my DD. The 8 is fun, but its not really a sports car. I thought it was pretty flat in the twisties until I took the 968 into the canyons - faster, more responsive, flatter. The thing that surprised me is that it is easier to drive better. I drive the 8 better after 20 hours in the 968. I used to call the RX8 a 'poor man's Porsche'. No longer. Don't get me wrong, the 8 isn't a Camry, but its not a P at all. I am thinking about selling the 8 and looking for another 968 as a DD.
