Just think about how much neater you could become. Say wait a minute, is that possible! Lol. Yes I actually lucked out with the floor. This color shows no dirt although living on a dirt road still means there is dirt!

yup - i had to look at the dirt and dust in my culdesac to see what color to do the floor.

lol - as for neater, not likely. having a lift would mean more projects, and therefore more mess scattered about. hence the conundrum.

Nice lift, I have had a 4 post for 6~7 years, originally bought it for storage but I have the bridgejack and jack tray and use it a lot for working on the car.

I used medium grey Epoxy Coat floor coating, I wished I added flakes as the chips etc all show up.

After struggling one day to walk an icy slope up to my garage it occurred to me that this was just plain craziness and eventually I would fall and injure myself. Mind you I came to this conclusion after I walked up most of a gradual grade to my garage and literally slide back down to my starting point. It took two more attempts with walking in the snow and skating to the other side of the road and continuing walking in the snow to get to a flat spot to walk over to the garage. Why walk in the snow you might ask? Traction. So after saying no way to the first estimate to build a combo lanai/breezeway, we rethought the concept and came up with a more acceptable number. Now I'm sure to overrun that but. No Brian didn't give me that word! So it is a 50ft long addition that will be covered, have windows with heat and a/c and match both garage and house. Being liberal and green we are working it by some trees that I didn't want to bring down because they add a great look currently. Afterward, who knows! Interestingly enough, visually the garage is higher up than the house but when we did the shoot from my back porch it was an even shot over to the garage which eliminated the need for stairs. The breezeway looks a little like a boardwalk now. Liz of course asked me if I was humming under the boardwalk down by the sea on a blanket with my baby. My Mom asked me if I would ever be done building things. I had this pretty nice back yard with brand new sod and nice stone walls. Now of course it is a muddy construction site. Somewhat depressing. Life goes on.

i can certainly identify with the continuous remodel and construction process. we just attacked 3 rooms, am finishing those this next week, and will be attacking another one in june. that only leaves 2 ares of the house and property untouched. they won't be far behind either.

in the end, i think it will be worth it. in the meantime, i am so sick and tired of moving junk back and forth, and dealing with the dust and such, that i almost wish i could just bail and move on.

good luck

Thanks. Luckily enough we have had enough rain spread out to keep the dust down. The one neat thing is the subsurface is just thick with all sizes and shapes of stones and rocks. A testament to a retreating glacier long ago. Not far from here, about 20 minutes, is a ski area called Big Boulder. Part of the off season attractions is a field called Boulder field. Pretty neat. Perhaps that should be enough of useless info! Instead of footers I had sono tubes installed. Because of all of the previously mentioned rocks, all the soil needed to be excauvated, the tubes placed, soil put back and then the concrete and rebar added. This saved a lot of money. The cost of footers for the garage and prep for that was staggering so I was trying to avoid that if possible. Now there are enough under the lanai to do a rebuild should I choose to do that later on which will handle extra weight. Guess I'm not done Mom!
