Mark, that's a fascinating piece of history. HOW? (Although, while I don't have the info, there could not have been 50,000 posts to that thread, so ???)

I was exaggerating, no idea how many post were in it but would venture several hundred.

I wish I knew why I can't edit my posts but I assume this will merge with my last post like the last time I did this.

Jim - when did you buy your car? With that info I can find the thread on 968.net. I need to be somewhere within around 30 days to find it.

I purchased my car in April 2003 - and, tonight was the night when I passed 100,000 miles driven by me.

If I recall, other than one other thread (quiz - does anyone remember which that was?), mine was the longest in 968.net history, running to something approaching 20 pages. I have a printout someplace. Nice to know that at least one other person has been around that long.

I'm able to edit (as I did on my previous post) so this seems to be a selective problem - no idea why.

I've pissed off someone I guess. Give me a few minutes to see if I can find the thread. I saw you joined 968.net February 18th 2003 and by December 4th 2004 you had 3081 posts third to Flash and Muti.

The wayback machine has a problem with the buyers forum (kind of screwy like 968.net became )I can't see anything that was active between February 2003 and June 2003.

Muti - I'd forgotten about him. I seem to recall a not-too-happy story with the car he purchased.

Of course, the record thread was Gil - the Great Gildersleeve!

the edit problem is a result of a security issue - supporters, boosters, advocates, moderators and sponsors can still edit - i am working on a solution, but until i work it out, we are stuck - i will explain it all when i figure out the solution

yes, muti had a problem - he is on a rather lengthy list of people who were and are very upset with having done business with a particular member of that site - fortunately none of that has found itself over here - that is pretty much all i want to say about it
