Headlight motor relay cost....
#1

Has anyone purchased a headlight motor relay recently?

The price quoted from Sunset is $99.xx. Seems expensive to me considering I had seen posts from less than 2 years ago that the relay was running in the $50 range.

Pelican Parts: 111-943-383C $46.30

but

Paragon Price: $9.75 Product Code: PP-111.943.383C <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/unsure.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

5 pin headlight motor relay. Attaches to headlight motor.

Seems to be a big price difference but same part number!! Better call Jason at Paragon to check it out.

I don't think those are the same relays that I am looking for. The one I need is located at G17 and G18 in the fuse box. I will have to go look but I think it is labeled as control unit light combination. Maybe headlight relay isn't the correct term.

Thanks for looking 968 Cab.

oops. you're right Bart - I'm so used to working on 944 and 951S that I forgot that the 968 HL relay went into the fuse box instead of on the HL motor.

hmm.. if the relay is suspect anyway, I've had a LOT of success cleaning the relay contacts on these cars. With plastic covers on that unit, it is pretty easy to open it up. I use a thin 1/4" wide strip of 1000 grit paper folded over and just run it through the contacts to remove oxidation and arcing deposits. That usually does the trick.
