Cost for collapsable spare?
#1

Cheers gang -

How much do those collapsable spares cost for our cars? I'm assuming you can't re-use one after its been inflated.

Cheers,

I have one i'd sell you for probably very little. It does me no good as it won't fit over the new brakes.

If Mirror doesn't want it, I'd be interested and can pick up. Shipping is usually the killer for tires.

I'll be in GSO this weekend to take my Dad and his new wife out to dinner. I'm way to old for a stepmother <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/blink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Thanks

They ARE resuable after having been inflated. They will deflate and go back to the original, shrunken, size.

Wow, really? I'll be giving that a try (I was going to for fun anyway).

Great. Shoot me your most bestest price at ceenit@carolina.rr.com.

Also, where do you live in Greenboro? My dad is in the midst of selling our old family home in the Starmount Forest area (near Friedly/Holden intersection) and moving out to Brown Summit (just north of GSO).

Thanks

I said that based on real life, first-hand experience.

And so it does. Interestingly, it doesn't deflate and collapse into the same shape. Makes it a tighter squeeze into the spare tire well, but I got it in there.

Dern, you already received it? Or did you get one elsewhere?

Mine deflated and collapsed into the same shape as pre-inflation. You really need to get all - that's ALL - the air out. Try removing the valve.

Naw, I PM'd Whakie and told him I'd find one closer to home, I didn't realize he was in NC.

Yeah, I was hoping mine would do the same but it didn't. Pre-inflation, one side was smooth and one side was folded on itself. Upon deflation, both sides have folds. I got as much air as possible out of it, using a tiestrap and ratchet. I got it back into the compartment though, no worries.

From your description, I'd say that your tire is now in the right configuration - both sides should have a fold.
