Project Mulligan aka "DO Over"
#1

Well it did take long for me to want to replace my damaged 968 turbo(I started looking about 48 after the wreck). I bought another white/blue int 1993 968. I will begin swapping and transferring parts as soon as the insurance matters are settled. I also have to await the replacement transport from CA to MI

I will update as the project develops.

Thanks again to all you fellow 968 enthusiasts whom I have gotten so much support from

Miles

Please excuse my CA geographical ignorance, is San Romon near the Bay area? If so, then yes

San Ramon, indeed. East of Oakland about 15 miles or so.

The gist of my accident is that while participating in a DE. I was taking a left corner at approx 50mph in 3rd. The instructor told me to give it a little gas coming out of the turn. I did and the tires began to spin. I fish tailed with the front going left and the rear going right. I tried to correct by turning slightly right then the car started spinning to the right and came to rest against a cement retaining wall.

My consolations Miles, a similar thing happened to me while attending the Panoz Racing School at road Atlanta. After about 15 laps around the track with the instructer we are in the slowest turn on the course when the instructer hells in my ear (via the helmet mounted radio) "full gas now!" and I punched the throttle thinking this guy really knows something I don't. Thats when the ford V8 of the Panoz Esperante broke the rear wheels loose and I went right into the retaining wall! Do not do everything your instructer says! Good luck, Bob Blackwell.

The one it bought was on ebay but did not sell at auction. I contacted the seller after the auction ended and bought it privately. The seller has turned out to "one of us" 968er's

Miles which Insurance company do you use and what was their thoughts on your accident. You are very lucky! Did you have an LSD in your car? So I take it you get to keep both cars. You can probably part the broken car and get additional funds. In then end you might be on the + side! Good luck with the project!

Yes, I bought the car back from the AAA insurance company. As I was just participating in a Drivers education event and not racing, it was covered. I am planning on transplanting the engine, trans, LSD, suspension, brakes, interior parts, stereo etc............................I should have my turbo up and running by next spring 2007 .

I'm glad insurance is working out -- I've heard only good results out of AAA insurance.

There are a couple of 968ers who hang out on Rennlist who have gone out to San Ramon to see that car (and the 4 other 968s the owner had at one point). I haven't seen it myself, but if anything goes wrong, I'm sure we can send a 968 mob to smooth things out.

You guys are the BEST!!!!!!

I am hoping that very little can go wrong as long as the body and frame are clean and straight as promised. The rest I am going to replace with my resurected part from the old car. I should be able to hold a pretty sizable garage parts sale when I am done

I know that guy. Bill P, right? He sold me my 968. I saw that white CS clone he had, and I drooled over it - he said he'd want to sell it eventually. Congrats, and good luck!

I am pleased to report that I have had my 968 for 8 months, and not ONCE have I cursed my PO, so if all goes well, you can consider yourself the owner of a well kept car.

Arash that's the guy. I feel much better that you have had a good experience with your purchase. I have had a smooth transaction so far and with your expereince I am sure the transaction will continue to go well. Otherwise, I may follow josephsc advise "There are a couple of 968ers who hang out on Rennlist who have gone out to San Ramon to see that car (and the 4 other 968s the owner had at one point). I'm still waiting for the shipment of my "new" 968. I can't wait to drive it stock for awhile and begin the conversion/resurection project

What did you have on your previous 968? I gathered it was turbocharged, but I want all the juicy details.

I remembered Bill was selling that car on eBay and was offering a choice of wheels, one with a price reduction, or something like that. What wheels did you end up getting with the car? When I saw that car, it had the awesome 17" boxster wheels that were painted red.
