2010 Video
#1

Like I have done in the past, I put together a video of some of the stuff caught on camera during the season. Like it or not, here is the 2010 version:

Always look forward to the end of the season race highlights! I gotta start doing something like that but I need a decent editing program first.

So, how about a summary on the 944 turbo motor install and how that went? I plan on racing in ITR for another few years but the 2.5l turbo would be the motor to have in my car for the National STU class. Allows me to race at 2770 lbs with a 39mm inlet restrictor instead of 3300 pounds with the 3.0.

Great film!

I would say the turbo has been a step up in power but it definitely takes an adjustment in style to drive it to its potential. I'm mainly running in a class with a 10:1 weight to horsepower limit so the current setup is ~2900 race weight with driver and 290 rwhp. The engine can make this easily and with running moderate boost, it has been pretty reliable. If you run 951 stuff then the install is pretty straight forward. Mine is all 951, except for a 968 trans. The problem with the 951 stuff though is that it is pretty old. The engine wiring harness is particularly suspect but since there are enough turbos still around, there are solutions.

I'm not sure anyone has tried to crack the nut on how to best run thru a 39mm restrictor on a 951.

Thanks Eric - good to know the 2.5 T can make that kind of power reliably. No idea what that inlet restrictor would do - sure won't help....
