10 spoke 911 wheels
#1

Just thought I'd share my latest purchase with you good folk. Haven't seen any 968's with these wheels before, I reckon they look the business although they did need spacers. I realise there are a lot of posts on the pros and cons of spacers - but the look of filling the arches is just fantastic.

Clive, are they 18" ? Looks good and I have not seen those wheels very often on any Porsche.

Ooh, pretty

You should post the information in the new wheel section too! I know I have a few questions about them.

I have those on my 968 too. Funny thing, I went to our local club meeting and was stunned to find another Austin 968 wearing these.

I think a lot of 996 owners took these off to upgrade to 18s or 19s, that's how I got mine.

BBS really does a nice job with these designs. They supply BMW and Audi, and the German cars always seem to have an edge over the Japanese in their wheel styles.

Hey, No they are 17" 7' fronts and 9" rears. Came off a 2003 996 when he upgraded to 18" as also commented on here.. my gain!

Now I just need to replace the worn out rubber.. they have 205/50 s on the front so will probably move up to 215/45 and 255/40's on the rear. Choice of tyres will probably be between the Dunlop direzza, Toyo's or Michelin. I have seen a few recommendations on the Goodyear F1's but had these on a previous car and I reckon the road noise was above average.

I also have these wheels, and I also live in Austin. But the car you saw at your club meeting must have been a different car from mine, so there are at least three 968's in Austin with these same wheels!

I must admit, I wasn't too crazy about these wheels when I went to look at the car, but they have grown on me over the nearly four years that I've owned the car (kind of like the pop-up headlights ). It's nice that they aren't on too many 968's (other than the ones here in Austin!)
Just wanted to chime in, since I've been coming to Austin on a somewhat-what regular basis of late. For example, I was there for New Years Eve, and swam at Barton Springs (see my photos on myspace.com/oralph).

I'm smack in the middle of painting my 968 Coupe (cobalt blue, grey interior). But this week I'll be trailoring my late mother's 1974 XKE to its new home with www.classicjaguar.com just SW of Austin. Then I have to come back here (near Ann Arbor, MI) to finish assembling the 968.

Don't know when I'll be in Austin again, probably with US Masters Swimming nationals the first week of May.
Not to hijack this thread with a discussion about 968's in Austin, but I saw a white Cab heading east on Slaughter Lane in south Austin yesterday afternoon. I wasn't driving mine at the time, though. I think it's top was a color other than black, like either brown or gray. Does it belong to anybody on this board?

It makes me wonder how many 968's there are total in Austin. It would be nice if we could get together sometime through some mechanism. Maybe we should all join a common club, like the Porsche club's Hill Country region, which I have been a member of, but I have to admit I haven't been too active in the club.
