Not that this would be the deciding factor for you, but if you decide to part the car I am looking for the external temperature gauge. Detailers screwed mine up when I had it detailed last.

After 25 years of one season, I am glad I left that hell hole of state. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/cool.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />[/quote]

To continue this digression - after living in New York and New Jersey for many - many - years, my wife and I ended up living in Florida for 6 years. Then, in 2000, we moved back to NJ but have been looking forward ever since to returning to FL. There may be better places, but there certainly are much worse.

Thank you Anchorman. We anxiously await your return with open arms. You are always welcome in the Sunshine state.

Anchorman's points are well taken,

but I think the insurance agent is over-valuing your car. I doubt they could find a salvager willing to pay more than $1k for it. If this is something you're serious about, I'd counter offer $10k and your car. Chances are the adjuster will accept just to get the file off his desk, just like a similar situation I found myself in with a BMW 2002tii.

+1

The GF just convinced me be buy a proper winter car and it started snowing on the way to pick it up and I ended up sliding off the freeway. Luckily, no damage though.

Sorry about your car
