I wrecked my 968
#1

I wrecked my 968 back in October. Hydroplaned on the highway, my car turned straight to the right and hit a tractor trailor truck head on, then my car spun and hit the truck again now sideways. It was raining hard. Walked out of the crash without a scratch on me, cop and truck driver couldn't believe it. Got really lucky I guess, even though I lost my car. I replaced it with another 968. 1994 metallic blue. Really nice condition and a lot less miles than my original one. Anyway here are the pics from my wrecked car. And a pic of my new one. RIP iris.

thanks Darryl! the fact that the car held it together in such a violent impact inspired me to get another one... they are strong.

Holy shiznit! Glad you're OK. So sorry to see what happened to your car, and glad you got another one.

There, I guess that's the full range of emotion right there. Shock, relief, grief and happiness. I've had a full day, I need to go sit down.

Sorry about your car. As for your new car, I looked at that one when I was shopping for mine, very nice! I love the tan interior!

Your car was mentioned on RL, as it found its way on to a salvage/car parts site. There was some speculation as to what happened..

"the blue one has damage that seems very odd for a car accident. looks like a wave got a hold of a big SUV and tossed it right into the driver's side door... and it got pushed into something else.... then something came at it again and slid across part of the top front (boat?).... but, without any visible seawater damage, who knows."

Glad to know you walked away unharmed and congrats on the new one!

Glad you're OK. Wow, some people spend years looking for a 968, and you seem to have replaced your with another one pretty quickly. Glad it worked out.

... and in addition to your being OK, the other good news is that it only ruined a set of Turbo Twists!

Glad your OK and have jumped "back in the saddle" (968 saddle!).

Good to see that the 968 has structural rigidity.

Just curious - how much time lapsed between the accident, and the new purchase?

Also, I can't help myself, but when I look at the wrecked car, I can't help but think, "It may be totaled, but I bet when you turn the key, the engine fires right up..." - unlike mine

about 3 weeks between accident and new purchase. yes the car was still running, I drove it off the highway, was lucky that it stopped spinning on the left shoulder, which avoided me getting hit by an oncoming car. I drove it off more to the side. Anyway a few days later, the auto body place said that the car was starting up just fine which broke my heart! cause I knew it was going to end up dismantled somewhere.

Wow, only three weeks. That must be some kind of 968-replacement record!
