Worth upgrading?
#1

These Sway bars are no longer available.

944 Turbo Cup Bars are 30MM Front (same as 968 MO3O Bar) & 21MM Rear (3-Way adjustable).

I currently have a 30MM 968 MO3O bar up front and a 19MM Lindsey Racing bar in the rear. The Lindsey Racing Bar is a clone of the MO3O rear bar, with the addition of two more adjustments. One softer and one stiffer.

Anyone with experience think upgrading to the oem 944 Turbo Cup 21MM rear bar is worth it over my 19MM? I would keep my 30MM front bar.

My first 944 (an '87 8V) had these sway bars. Car was really flat in corners.

For ref.

i have Koni Adjustable Yellows front and rear, H&R springs up front, Design 1 Strut Brace & lower chassis brace & a weltmeister rear chassis brace.

In my opinion it would not be worth the expense to change from 19mm to 21mm in the rear unless you really have a lot of understeer in the corners. I have run the M030 front and rear anti-sway bars for several years and have no complaints with them. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.

lol - oh boy - here comes the slippery slope

the 21 will probably be too stiff for the stock torsion bars - if you plan to increase the rear spring rate, then that would be different - but then the 30mm and H&R springs will probably end up being too soft - pretty much any spring you can find that you add back there will make the front too soft - you could use a 50lb helper in the back, and not have to change anything in the front, but good luck figuring that out or finding it

that being said, i have a 22 in the rear, and am very happy with it, but i also have 500lb springs (no torsions) which makes about a 300lb wheel rate versus the stock 175 - however, this is coupled with a 32mm bar up front and 300lb springs

all of this though also required installation of hydraulic (not gas) dual adjustable shocks and struts to smooth the ride out

the result is a touch of controllable oversteer, and a very smooth ride - exactly what i wanted

it's all about balance
