So, a week ago I am driving in the rain, and the drivers side wiper just flopped down and wouldn't move anymore.
The triage was to go to the nearest gas station, swiped their squeegee, kept the window down, and just kept wiping manually with my left arm. Looked weird, but quite effective.
No, just kidding, we were real close to home. Today just popped the little cap off, saw the retaining nut, tightened it down again, and that was it, all is well again. I like this kind of repair. Probably a good maintenance item on the checklist to check those nuts every now and then. Got real lucky, I was thinking something way worse like behind the dashboard or some other horror repair.

Seems that mine loosen it self at high speeds. My wiper would slowly creep up my window. a little further with every sprint. Then one day, when I was caught in the rain, the same thing happen to me. Got it in the garage and noticed the retaining nut. A couple of twist and I was back in biz.

Thia happen to me last year and hasn't happen again yet, but I suspect it will. Loctite is a good option.

I think that the nut tightens the arm on a rubber bushing. The bushing expands as the nut tightens. This gives a 'safety factor" so the arm can spin on the shaft if needed if something blocks the movement. Tightening the nut re-compresses the bushing and makes it tight again.
