Windscreen wiper stalk gone loose
#1

Not really sure if this should be posted here, or in the interior section, however this morning on my journey to work (where I was switching between having the windscreen wipers both on and off) I noticed that the stalk that operates the wipers has gone loose. To explain that further, where before it clicked nicely between the different settings, now it sort of waggles about a bit like something has broken from off the end. The wipers still work on all the settings but its just not nice to operate and its not as easy to select each setting. I was wondering if anyone else has had similar issues and if it can be repaired, or do I need to replace the whole indicator/wiper steering column stalk assembly..

I had a similar experience with a Volvo years ago. The back had popped off the switch and the spring and ball had fallen out. It was fairly easy to fix, but I did have to remove the entire unit from the column. Look for some of the necessary bits when you take the covers off as that's where they usually end up.

Strange, but when I used the car again today, the wiper stalk felt fine and was back to its old clicky self. Don't you just love it when cars fix themselves.
