Hey guys, I haven't seen a white coupe here locally in Dallas, but I've seen a black cab, a red cab, and a cobalt blue coupe in the North Dallas/Addison area.

Where do you guys live in big D?

My most recent shop has been RUF up in Addison. They were very helpful, and given the pedigree they hold I felt really comfortable having them work on it. The gentleman I dealt with, Hans Hoffman, was upfront with me about what needed to be done so I appreciated that. I think either he or the lead shop guy actually race 944s on the weekend, so having someone with familiarity with the front engined cars was a plus too. I took my car there about 4 months ago to have some suspension parts replaced.

I have also been to Park Place on Lemmon for a few things, but with the exception of my last visit (when I actually did not use them and went to RUF instead) they always seem to not care about me or my car quite as much as the new models in there.

I got an oil changed at Overseas Service Haus a while back and I liked them too, but I wanted a Porsche focused shop to do major repair work.

Soooooooooo, at the end of all that, I would take my car to RUF for any repairs. Zimz in the mid-Cities is good too, but they are a little too to be convenient. Sorry for the long windedness, but those are my thoughts.

I'm in North Dallas off Royal Lane here....

I have gone to Zim's in Bedford, and I was personally not impressed. I have yet to try RUF, but given the caliber of products, I would expect good things out of the shop.

I personally use Louden Motorcars basically where 35/635 link. They work almost exclusively on older Mercedes, Porsche, and BMWs. They staff is friendly with good communication. They have a website with more info as well : loudenmotorcars.com

I'm relatively new to Dallas as well, so I don't know if people around really meet up, but I'd be open to racing around with some 944's as well....

I’ll keep everyone informed with respect to my experience with RUF. So far they’ve been spot on. Opened the conversation about the timing after speaking with Pete and they were aware of the complexity of timing the engine re-educating me on what Pete had informed me of....we’ll see. Unfortunately...no real way of discerning right from not so right once complete

I’d be more than willing to meet up...

Good luck with RUF. As mentioned earlier, I am heading up there again in a month or so to get new brakes.

I'd be up for meeting...I actually haven't ever looked closely at another 968 so I would be curious to see some other cars and meet some owners.

Yea, that'd be great. What did you guys have in mind? Wait for better weather or do you drive yours daily?

Mine is a daily driver so I am always out in it. I actually have had the top down recently...loving this bitter Texas winter.

Nice, crashing a 944 meeting would be funny.

How's it going with RUF?

I had the top down in my SL this last weekend, felt great!

Let us know when you get the car back!

I'm going to stop by the shop tomorrow...the head should be off...wish I had the time and tools to blend the bowels and ports....but if that were the case I'd be doing all of the work. No garage..no tools..still in Florida waiting for the purchase of a house. Anyway...yes...can't wait to get it back and meet up with everyone...your car looks awesome!

Be Well

I am taking the car into RUF tomorrow for brakes, an oil change, and a search for a power steering fluid leak.

I am heading down to the hill country at the end of the month for a wedding and am hoping to do a little spirited back road driving with the top down, so I am going to have them give the car an inspection too just to make sure all is well.

Luke, have you gotten your car back? Hopefully everything is fixed now. Once I get my repairs done perhaps a small Dallas get together is in order...

I have been wondering myself how many DFW area 968's are around. I am am located in Fort Worth. I see a red coupe in my parking garage once in a while.

As far as reputable shops.....I have heard that Louden's is good, Zim's has always had a good reputation. My first hand experience with them when I had my 944 Turbo S was not up to expectations. I still use them for parts once in a while. Istook's in Fort Worth worth also comes pretty highly recommended but I haven't had a chance to see for myself. Mayo's in the midcities is also pretty good.
