Where is your heater control valve?
#1

On my old 944's, the valve was behind the head. My 968 has it right near the oil filter. Is this normal?

Just curious...

Mine is at the corner of Beach Blvd. and Adams Ave.

That is where it should be.

yep, mine is right behind the oil filter. the filter actually makes installing a new hcv rather tedious.

thanks to a tip from bruce, i just got a new one from napa. it apperars to be much better construction than the old one. just put it in on friday and it works great. i had to get a very small hose clamp to fix the vacuum line to the top of the hcv because the napa part had a smaller nipple than the factory orginal. once i tightened down the clamp, it fit great.

after looking at the old one, i'm really glad that someone suggested changing it because there was a seal on the inside that was nearly falling out.

Plastic one is in the recycle yard (dumps) the metal one is located by my oil filter too. I had a meltdown of the vacuume hose so I replaced and rerouted mine over the passenger side firewall and fender. Dumb place for the hose previously.... tucked inside next to the block and intake manifolds where the rubber hose cooks like a chicken on a BBQ all the time.
