once again i've got the car on stands (i'm in there monkeying around to get a LOT more air into the engine - wink wink nod nod - say no more) - my memory isn't what it once was, so i marked my alternator belt and bumped the key to see which way the engine rotated - as i lift the upper radiator hose to reveal my mark, i feel a groove on the bottom of the hose

apparently there is a support clip that goes under the hose to hold it up and away from the belt - when i first got my car i didn't have a garage, and consequently sent it to a shop to have the belts done - they left the support clip off (just another in a LONG list of things they screwed up that i continue to find years later) - i never knew there was a clip, so when i did the belts i didn't think to look for it
long story short, every time i would trounce on the engine, it would lift up and the belt would hit the hose - not good - thankfully i caught it before it cut completely through - here is the damaged hose:
so, a phone call to rs barn and a clip made its way out to me - unfortunately these things are very fragile, and i broke an ear installing it - no worries - it still works fine though and will prevent the problem
