Wheel offsets again
#1

Is it safe to assume the wheels I'm looking at won't fit or look good if they fit?

specs are

8 1/2x17 offset 41

10x17 offset 35

Yes Mark, safe to say. I'm running a 10" rim with a 50mm offset in the rear, and it's the maximum with no less than 1.6 degrees of negative camber.

For the front, I'm running an 8" rim with a 55mm offset and 1.0 degrees of negative camber, and probably could push it out another 1/4 inch with mild interference. Between your extra .5" in wheel width and 20mm further out, there's no way.

Good luck.

Ok moving on to other wheels in 18s with these sizes as my choices

8 1/2 +50

9 +48

10 +50 +60 (Rustech running +50 in the rear)

10 1/2 +40

11 +40 +59

Will the 8 1/2 +50 work up front (looks close based on Rustech's comments)

I still have to photoshop them on the car to see if I like the look but they are light so worth considering.

We need more information to help you estimate the fit.

Is your car lowered? How much?

What are your spring rates? F? R?

How much negative camber are you planning on running?

Regarding the 8.5 +50 on the front, the minimum tire width that would look decent is a 235. On my last post, I mis(spoke)(thought)(typed) that I had a 55mm offset on the front 8.0 when in fact it's a 52mm. I rub slightly on HARD trailbraking or HARD u-turn with my setup which is:

8.0 et52

235 yok avs-es100

200 front spring rate

Lowered 1.5"

1.0 deg neg camber

If you are not lowered, or have a stiffer spring, or have more neg camber, you'll have no interference.

On the rear, if you go with the 10 et 50, you'll be at the outer limit if lowered all the way with your eccentric bolts. The most tire you could get is a 275 and you would have to remove the metal clips at the back of the rocker panels. The 10 et 60 is the better choice, you'll be able to get a 285 on there.

Hope some of this helps.

Very helpful as usual. Not lowered at all at this point, car is totally stock for the moment, but I bought this car to modify so I've started looking a things and the wheels and offsets for some reason just don't compute for me. Now that my job situation appears to be stable after the buyout I'm willing to spend the money but I'm having a hard time finding light wheels that look good. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
