I've been using phone dial wheels for autox and wanted to switch same width F/R.
I currently have 8JET52.3 (part number 951.362.116.01). I've located two rims 8JET23.3 (part number 951.362.116.00). What's the consequence of running different offsets on performance?
These will be primary for AX but a few track days are sure to be in the picture.
If these work, which offset should go Front?
Thanks.

Thank you. I guess I got it backwards. I thought a smaller offset would have moved the wheel inward and possibly not clear the brakes. Do our cars have positive or negative offsets?
My stock street are 255/40/17 on the rear. If these fit on the front would I be right that 225/50/16 with the different offset will fit? From memory I though the 17" wheels have offsets of 55 or 62 mm. It seems the 30 cm wider tires less 4 cm offset difference might do.
I'm not arguing but want to better understand and it seems I've got something backwards in my thinking. Thanks.

Less offset means the wheels are further outboard. More offset means further inboard. I have a set of wheels with a 70 mm offset and I need spacers to move them out to fill the wheel wells. I think that about 55 mm front offsets and 52 mm rear offsets are the most common.

I had the good luck to be stuck in traffic and have time to visualize the wheel. Yep, I'm a moron.
The hub is where it is and the wheel moves!! I also didn't realize how little space is left to the fender. Hey it's cold out in the garage to visit the queen!
Thanks again for the help.
