I just thought that it was a 1996 968.  They are numbered sequentially, n'est pas?

Flash, just for fun I looked up the 969 and it actually was a planned car.  It was to be a successor to the 959 but twin turbo and water cooled heads.  Would have never known if it weren't for that random post!

And Porsche almost completed that 959 successor prototype except for one minor feature which was left out at the last moment , so they rebranded the car with one number short of the original 969 plan ; and that's how the 968 was born. I think that minor feature they left out was the twin turbo... :-) :-)

And I understand that the 969 was to have computer controlled wheel locks, another engineering first for Porsche!
