Wheel cap crests
#1

I recently noticed that the Porsche crests/emblems have fallen off not one but two of my wheel caps. The caps themselves are intact; just the crests have disappeared. Funny, the emblem on the hood of our X5 flew off while we were driving home from vacation in Colorado, so I seem to be experiencing a rash of this, but I digress...

Any suggestions as to where to buy replacements? Either new or used would be fine. Thanks.

Edit: I just checked Paragon and Pelican, and Pelican has the wheel caps (they don't sell the emblems separately), but they're a whopping $62.50 each. So, used would be nice. As my signature says, my car has 996 ten-spoke 17" wheels, if that makes any difference.

i've never seen the kind where the emblem was separate from the cap - all of the ones i have seen they are integral

you can usually get a full set for about $160 - try wheel enhancement, or boothe designs

Johann,

Thanks, I should I thought about eBay first thing. I'll see if there's anything comparable available in the states. If not, any chance I could get you to buy a set, and mail them to me (of course I'll pay you back for everything via Paypal). Hopefully that won't be necessary, though.

Do all of the caps have the little holes in them? I recall seeing no holes in the set on the 93.

The otiginal caps all have two holes in them. But if you are more than half a meter away you cannot see the holes.

I think maybe you guys are referring to the emblems, not the caps themselves. The emblems do indeed have two little holes in them, but I agree with Johann - they're hardly noticeable.

I found the same emblems for sale on eBay in English, so I think I'm going to order them. For about $20, I don't see how I can go wrong. If the lack of holes in the replacement emblems bugs me, I can always replace the other two.

Thanks everyone for the suggestons. It's nice to know there are several very reasonably priced alternatives to buying the very pricey new replacement caps.

Ah, I see. Not sure why anybody would want to remove their center caps, though...

Some DE events require removal. You would remove the OE black 7 silver ones to add the gold crest.

Interesting... I'd never heard of that.

Just as a heads-up to everyone, these decals don't work as wheel cap crests. They're a bit too large, at 5 cm lengthwise (the indent in the cap where the original emblem fits is 4.6 cm), and they're too thin. I'll try some different sources, and am open to any suggestions anyone may have.

Johann,

I just noticed this post. Please send me a PM, and we'll see if we can make a deal. Too bad I didn't need these back when I sold you my rear wiper - maybe we could have traded straight up!
