Wheel Alignment specs for track
#1

Hi all,

I wonder if some of you regular track guys would like to share your alignment specs for circuit work? I run my 968CS at track days etc. and am looking for a baseline alignment. I run DOT legal R tyres ( Toyo R888's or Bridgestone RE55's ). I'm not too concerned about tyre wear on the street.

Thanks in advance!

Craig, I got my best times on the track with 3 degrees of negative camber in the front and two degrees of negative camber in the rear. Just a bit of toe-out in the front and none in the rear. I was running the 18 inch wheels with Hoosier A6S06 tires. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.

well, whether or not you have a strut tower brace dramatically affects the amount of camber you can run up front

so does ride height

so does spring rate

so does the track - what you would set for an autocross would not be anything like what you would set for a road course

can you fill us in a bit more on what your setup is (beyond the presumed M030 struts, springs, etc) and what you are doing with it (road race, autocross, etc)?

A general range for a race spec would be:

front:

-1.5 to -3.5 camber

max caster

-.10 total toe out to .10 total toe in

rear:

-1 to -2.5 camber

0 to .12 total toe in

Where you go in that range depends on specifics of the car, track, tire, personal preference and testing.

I usually end up around -3+ camber front, .10 front toe in, -2.5 rear with a smidge of toe in.

YMMV.

Thanks guys for your help, that's the ballpark numbers I was looking for. Much appreciated.

To answer other questions just FYI, it's used for circuit racing, M030 suspension ( Koni's and rear sway set stiff ), about an inch lower than stock 968CS height ( low ).
