Has anyone installed a trailer hitch? If so, what color wires do I splice for a 4 wire trailer harness?

On the wire harness:



White: Ground

Brown: Tail Light

Green : RT turn signal / Stop light

Yellow: LT turn signal / Stop light

No, pull a small trailer for my track tires and tools.

When I added a hitch I used one of the black boxes that converts the 968's independent stop-tail-turn lights to the standard stop or tail-turn lights found on trailers. It has independent power directly from the battery so the electrical loads on the OE wiring are unchanged. All of the wiring is accessible by removing the rear carpet IIRC.



Towing a tire and tool trailer with the 968 is a piece of cake.

Mike, Where did you get the "black box"? What is it called, who makes one? Did you have to run the wire all the way up to the positive on the battery itself?

Figured out that the product is called Modulite and is a powered converter. Can you tell me which wires you hooked up to the converter? Is the Porsche a 2 wire or 3 wire configuration?

To hell with the "nosecone," call one of the dismantlers and get yourself a used 968 front bumper to put on the leading edge of the trailer.... That would be true Porsche 968 enthusiam (or lunacy, depending on how you look at it....).



For those who don't know, I believe Porsche offered a factory trailer hitch option for the 968. I am sure it is crazy money, but interesting nonetheless, no?!

I've attached the schematic of the rear lights.

1 BL is Turn Signal

2 BRL is Brake Light

3 BGL is Tail Light



These 2 are not applicable for simple trailers

RFL is Back-up

NSL is Rear Fog Light



There is also a tag light, but most trailers use the tail light bulb for that.



Be sure you verify that everything is working correctly before you button it up! If you do that you won't need any luck.
