What model is this car?
#1

I've been contacted by a guy who wants me to help him put a value on this 76 Porsche and help him sell it. He says it is a 911, but there are no markings on the car that indcate what it is. It has the big tail and pop-up head lights. I've not seen a 911 this year model with these type head lights. Can someone help me identify what he has?

Second question is what is the value of this car. It is in ruff condition. One gear is out, drivers seat has bad tears, and there is over spray from paint work in the engine copartment. It is showing about 150,000 miles. I don't think it is worth very much. Give me a guess.

Pop up headlights. It could be a 914 or 928.

without knowing what it is, there is no way to determine the value. It could be a 911 slantnose conversion or a 914. We also dont know which options it has or which engine, etc etc.

The slant nose 911 didn't come out in factory form until the mid 80's. Before that the design was introduced to the world in 76 on the Porshce 935 race car. There were a number of aftermarket companies doing body kits to convert the 911 to look like the 935. If this is a 911, then it is a aftermarket body kit 911. The 914 had it's last year in 76, so that is a possibility. The 928 is out, it's first model year was 78. The first model year for the 924 was however 76, so that is a possibility.

Need a pic of it.

that gets my vote as well...I just had a 68 911 go through my place for a few mechanical and electrical issues and it had fiberglass all around...a mess and a shame IMHO.

I'm guessing 911 slant nose after market kit. Prices are all over the board on those, but generally I've seen the non-slant nose anywhere from $5k up to $18k if it is in excellent condition. Really depends on how well the kit has held up over the years. IMO, the aftermarket body kit on a '76 would not add anything to the value and in many cases diminish depending on quality.

A vin check on Carfax would be the quickest way to decipher the model.
