I had always thought Trabant had to be that, but after seeing this video I think we have a winner : https://www.youtube.com/embed/Y16ObVRvgOE

Back in the late 80's...that car was so bad I didn't eat French dressing for a year after owning it...

And which fine piece of machinery did you own?

The Renault Alliance...I bought it one year old with <10k on the clock for about $2,500...spent the next 41K replacing every major and minor part of the car, until finally I was blessed with a total catastrophic engine/transmission failure.

I then bought my first Rx-7 and owned it for the next 160k trouble free miles.

Apparently the Alliance was the 1983 Motor Trend "Car of the Year". Maybe "Car of the day" would have been better then.

The Renault 9 was modified by AMC to be sold in the States. Maybe they should have sold it the way it was... They certainly made it a whole lot uglier. Not that I'm saying the original is a beauty queen, lol.

Heh heh. Nobody did "ugly" better than AMC. Pretty shocking track record for f-ugly, IMHO.

I still chuckle out loud when i think of that Bond 007 movie that 'featurd' (intentional misspelling) the winged Matador. Whey, what a stinker!

My mom had a Renault Dauphine when I was a kid. But not for long.
