Want to buy 968 parts cheap?
#1

Sunset Porsche is having their annual swap meet / part sale on September 10th from 9-2 pm. It allows anyone who is there (in person) in the parking lot to purchase parts weather in stock parts or ordered parts, to order those parts at a cost of dealer cost + 15%. This can add up to considerable savings. I am planning on having my transmission rebuilt as the syncros from 1st to 2nd are rough and getting worse. So in planning for the future I plan on buying the clutch kit which normally costs $870 but at the tent sale will cost $700 for a 20% savings over normal prices, and possible a new fly wheel.

If anybody wants me to I would be happy to place orders for them in person. You would have to send me a check and I would pay for the parts. Sunset could ship you the parts at an addition cost. You would have to call Sunset in advance, get the exact prices with the exact part number, send me a list and check and I would place the order for you once your check has cleared.

They will not be taking orders by the phone on this one day.

Sunset normally sells there parts at +15% dealer for there mail order stuff. Watch out for the factory clutch kit, last we have seen it contains the heaver pressure plate that will give you a pretty stiff pedal and could lead to firewall cracking if you don't have a firewall brace.

Original weight (2500 lb.) pressure plate - made by AP - can be obtained through Pete at RS Barn. When you order a 968 clutch kit through Porsche - or anyone really - now, you're getting a 3100 lb. Sachs pressure plate from the 964.

I'll be installing my 2500 lb. clutch kit shortly and will report in on how the pedal feels.

Sounds like an excuse to go for a drive...

Only 5 hours away...

Then again, if I stay off the I-5, it could take a LOT longer... <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/dry.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
