the content is still there, but as the new PM system is completely different, the old PMs cannot be answered, and the folders (if you had any) are gone and cannot be recovered. but the messages are all still there

go to the dropdown below your screen name in the upper right corner and select messenger

the home page got some work done to it too - there is now an area for the calendar, a feed from the RSS to it, and a link to the calendar - there is now an area at the bottom that has new posts from the RSS feed too - this should attract some attention

on the subject of RSS, it is now enabled in a number of areas, but you have to log in to see them

i think the iphone app is going to prove to be a huge tool in accessing more members more often - with the ability to get to the site from your phone, i think more people are going to be more active

already we have seen an increase in activity, and members joining from other sites - it seems the word is out that this where the cool kids hang out

fun stuff for sure

thanks - very big thanks to josh too, who has been an invaluable resource

we will be adding back in the sponsor banners on the pages soon, as well as a few things on the index page, but all in all, i think we are just about there

it does seem a lot easier to navigate through, that's for sure - i like the collapsable tab on the right for "latest this and that" too

i just found another cool feature - in addition to the ability to select between unread content or since last visit, at the bottom of the index page, you can click "todays active content" - then at the bottom of that page, it gives you a dropdown menu where you can select how long to reach back (24hrs, week, 2 weeks, month, 6 months, year) - you can also search new posts within a specific area (gallery, forum, etc)

very cool

also added is an automated feature that pops in when you start a new thread - it automatically searches for similar threads after you enter your title, and as soon as you begin to enter the text - this will help prevent duplicate threads of things that have already been discussed (like "will these wheels fit")

also added into the column on the right is "forum specials" - here you will see ads for specials offered by the forum or its sponsors

how fun is this?

Bob,

I'm periodically getting the error "#20310 your secure key used to verify you are posting the topic did not match the one submitted please go back reload the form and try again". What does this mean?

Thanks

not sure what that is, but it is a known thing, and i think tech support is working on it - it's not limited to our site

you guys may have noticed a few more changes

the upper right corner is now expanded a bit and easier to read and access - the help button is up there right now too

the right hand column now has a forum specials and swag button - this is where you can access links to special offers from sponsors, and of course the 968 forums store

banner ads from our sponsors are back on select pages

a video section has been added in the reading room area - there are already some cool videos there

more to come - keep watching

I miss one feature from the previous version. You could pull up new posts from "this week". Lots of times I'll log in and check out the new posts. Then I have to run off to some damn meeting or another and I close my browser after only checking one or two posts. When I reopen it and hit "view new posts" of course I only get teh new one's since my last log in - was handy to be able to pull them up from the week to see what I had not looked at before work got in the way...

Anyone found a similar feature on this version?

go to the bottom of the index page

then click "today's active content"

then at the bottom of that page, use the drop down menu to select the period you want to see

Flash, the site looks great. Bravo.

And for you Droid users out there, the mobile version looked equally as nice. More importantly, navigating around the forums was quite zippy.

rxter- I found the same issue of checking a few posts and running off only to find them all gone a pain too until I inadvertently found a way around the issue - on the old software anyway. If you log off properly the new post are gone upon return; if you close the browser without properly logging off then the old post are still in the list when you log back in as the software thinks you have never left - seems the connections didn't time out.

As I said I haven't tried this with the new software and my hint may be moot.

This is probably and anti-spam feature (or some other dark purpose) but you have to wait 10 seconds after posting before you can hit the back button on your browser otherwise you get an Admin warning that you can't post again until you wait. All I am trying to do is back up the tree to new post again. Can this be lowered to say, 5 seconds?

there should be no delay on the browser back up, or any other function - there is only a 10 second delay on being able to post again (it's called "flood control") and is a spam filter
