As many of you may have noticed, we were down for a day or so while we were doing some work on the site.



I think you'll all agree that the new look is great, and you may or may not have found your way to some of the new features.



We now have a Garage. You can basically start a whole page of your own all about your car. Just click the "Garage" button at the top and get to work, or just check out other people's cars.



We now have a "Contact Us" button that will allow you to email the ADMIN easily.



The site now has tons more storage space and bandwidth which will allow us to post better larger pics with higher resolution, as well as larger video files.



We have also added a "Last 5 Posts" area. This refreshes on its own every few seconds, so you don't have to. You can also hover over any of the posts in that area, find the "down arrow" and click it. It will open in a preview window, allowing you to see the post without having to actually go to that page. So, now you can check out the latest stuff, all without leaving the Index page.



The "View New Posts" feature has improved too. You now have a bunch of options on how you choose to filter the new content. Check it out.



We hope you love everything we have done. We are always striving to keep this site up to date, with the latest features, and continue to provide the absolute best site for the Porsche 968 Enthusiast.



A huge "thank you" to banditsc for all the help. It made this process tolerable to say the least. I learn more about this web stuff every time i talk to him. I'll hate him forever.

Weel, we've been up and running now for about a week. We haven't seen any real issues. We had to help out a couple of people who had browser or cookie problems, but that's about it.



It must be working well, and making people happy, because traffic has increased, and we are getting more flak from the other site. Those guys just can't stand it when we do well.



I will digress for a moment to address the latest nonsense. Yes, we automatically "edit" some things. There are a handful of terms that the system sees and alters. It ADDS the correct term to the one the poster uses. It does not delete what the poster wrote. This is because the primary function of this site is to be an encyclopedia for posterity. Everything else is secondary. While certainly there is the social aspect of the site, it is not a chat board. We have nearly 5 times as many people who just come and read as we do those who participate. It is important to us that what they read is accurate. We want new users down the road to know the correct terms for things, and it is our responsibility to teach them. This is nothing Orwellian or anything like that about this. You wouldn't want to open up your Britannica and find errors in it. We don't want them here either. Hence it is the responsibility as the publisher of this site (and it is a publication) that we ensure accuracy, and correct things when they are in need. To those few who take issue with being edited, it is a common misconception that free speech applies in a place like this. While we absolutely want people to speak their minds, and have no interest in curtailing that in any way, we reserve the right to do what is in the best interests of the majority. We will continue to use the correct terms for things, and will modify things as appropriate. It's a handful of words, and nothing more. I can still count on one hand the number of times we have edited somebody other than term modification.



Enough about that silliness.



So, same great site, with all the resources and accurate information we can load into it. We are determined to provide the best possible place for the 968 Enthusiast to go. Everyone is welcome, it's always free, will never be plastered with ads, and you don't have to worry about sponsors being given carte blanche and you getting banned for commenting about something.



As always, we welcome comments. That is how we figure out what to do to improve things, and we will always seek to improve things.

The new look and features are great. I was not able to get the new site to work with MS Explorer so I shifted some things over to Firefox and it works perfectly. The transition was, as always, absolutely seamless on my Apple set up at home.



Once again, you've all done a great job and we all greatly appreciate it. As for the "Brand X" site, why even acknowledge their existence? Anyone who has ever done anything successful always has had the "wanna be" brigade snapping at their heels.

yup - wouldn't say anything but for the fact that unsuspecting new users might actually think that what they say has any validity, and then might not come here - nobody corrects them over there, for fear of being banned - because of that, those unsuspecting innocents would miss out on the best 968 site in the world, and some of the best people - we wouldn't want that to happen

Bob I like the changes. It looks clean and is easy to navigate. I think new users will have no problems. I have been a car enthusiast all my life, but have never been an active poster anywhere until joining this site. Major thumbs up to everyone involved in putting 968forums together and keeping it going.

You will need to define your notification options for topics that you follow. Click on your name at the top right of the screen, choose My Settings, then click on Notification Option from the list of the left and then choose how you want to be notified.

About email notifications, I previously relied on getting an email message when somebody added to a topic where I had written something.  I guess the site would automatically define it as a followed topic.  Mainly I wanted to make sure to be responsive if there was a question or other follow on thoughts.  If others do the same, under the Account.Settings.Notifications there is one available called "Notification method to use for replies to followed topics" which was unchecked, but I checked the email column and I think this is the right one so that I can now get those emails.



The new site looks great Flash, thanks, lots of excellent new features.

I'm having a bit of trouble.



In the lower left hand corner I get an !Done, when I "Reply to this topic".



When I push "Post", the message changes to ! Error on page, and the message does not send.



I then need to push "More Reply Options"Which adds all kinds of



to everythingand then push "Add reply"

Now I'm getting a CKeditor Error when I try to edit.

I had issues with the 'Post' button not appearing to work, so I opened the thread in a new tab and found that I had made two posts, and the content was doubled in one. Strange. I deleted all the content from one post and the doubled content from the other.

it will not create a new post if done within a few minutes, and will automatically add whatever it is to the last post - that is to prevent a long list of posts of afterthoughts



i would say that the problem is with the computer or server at work, and not with the site - there must be something blocking full access - i think i know what it is, and will talk to josh about it, but you may be screwed for the time being because of where you work and how the security is there
