Difference between M030 and standard, spindles and hubs.
#1

What are the differences between 030 and standard spindles and hubs?

Let's see if I am correct here:
Standard and 030 rotors have the same height of the hat, 45 mm, and hence if you mount 030 rotors on standard hub the inner surface of the rotor sits 4 mm further inward than the standard rotor. This is "fixed" with the 030 hub as it is higher (by 4 mm I guess). Mounting 030 rotor and caliper on standard hub/spindle is however ok since clearance is not a real issue. Since adapters are used it is easy to space the caliper both sideways to allow different height of the hat and outwards to allow for bigger rotors, this being an advantage with the standard spindle. It is also my conclusion that a 030 hub will fit the standard spindle (and thus allowing you to enjoy the beefier design) and also that a standard hub will fit a 030 spindle (but open up a can of worms about rotors since the 030 rotor wont fit anymore, 4 mm wrong offset). Off course the standard rotor wont fit if you mount 030 hubs. My assumption is that the ideal design for toying around with different rotors is having standard spindle with 030 hubs.

Are the 030 spindles beefier than the standard ones or is the only difference in that the calipers are radially mounted?

Does the 944 '88 turbo S, '89 up turbo and 968 M030 share the spindles and hubs with any other Porsche, like maybe 928S4?
