Turn Signal Cancel with 993 Steering Wheel
#1

Hi everybody. I know the turn signal cancel function is a wear item on our cars; mine had degraded quite a bit before I changed to a 993 steering wheel.

However, now with the new wheel installed, the turn signal never cancels. Isn't the cancellation function accomplished entirely within the turn signal combo switch? That isn't affected by what steering wheel is installed, is it?

Anyone else notice this after upgrading to a newer wheel? Any tips on what to look for?

There is a little tab on the steering wheel that hits a plastic piece which canels the signals-I replaced my signal/wiper/cruise assembly, and didn't have it far enough towards me (too far back on the shaft), so the turn signals didn't cancel. I loosened it up, brought it toward the driver a few mm, then reinstalled the wheel, and it works like a champ. Good luck!

And this is still true with a 993 wheel? I don't remember seeing the tab ...

Will try moving the combo switch closer to the driver, there is a small gap with the new wheel ... thanks!

I still have my stock 968 wheel, so I'm not sure about the tab on the 993 wheel. It's very small (probably 2mm), and not really noticable. Good luck!

When I installed the Club sport steering wheel on my 968 I had the same thing happen with the turn signal cancel not working and I solved it the same way, just loosen up the clamp and reposition the turn signal control closer to the steering wheel. If you get it too close the steerign wheel will rub and you have to reposition it again! If you really do not have the plastic "trigger" then it should be replaced on the steering wheel to make the cancel function work. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.
