Track Videos
#1

After a few years of in-car video with a roll-bar mounted camcorder, got tired of that perspective.

Got a Chase Cam for the car, and experimented with mounting it on the side and roof of the car.

Results aren't bad:

Warm Up Laps at Pueblo Motorsports Park (2.2 miles, 10 turns, hot laps 1:53): here

Hot Laps at La Junta Raceway (1.3 miles, 7 turns, hot laps 1:01-1:04): here

I like the trees at the turns (La Junta) lets you know where the turns are and that they are the only trees visible for miles and that you could smash into them. Makes an otherwise boring scenic drive more of a challenge.

Love the roof cam...better perspective!

Yeah - isn't the tree thing ironic? The La Junta track is on the site of a former B-29 training base from WWII (thus the lack of elevation changes on that track). In the eight years I've run down there, I've never seen anyone hit any of them, though. A couple of motorcycle racers did die there a couple of years ago, but that had nothing to do with the trees.

To give you a notion of speed, that first two turns are taken as oe turn at around 110-120mph. My average speed around that track is around 77mph. Pueblo average speed is around 69mph.
