heater always on
#1

it seems that when i close the vents on the side and middle of dash i get heat I had a mechanic look at it but he could not find anything wrong. The heater control unit seems to work fine. I should not get heat in the car with both controls off.

i replaced heater control valve and also checked if anything is loose under driver's side dash. any suggestions? it is driving me nuts.

Under the center of the lower dash ( right of the gas pedal) there is a box like plastic cover with a couple of screws in it, behind it is the linkage to the heater doors, more then likely one of the clips broke and the linkage is off and not moving the door. That was my case, clips are a couple of dollars.

is your fan running full blast?

If so make sure you don't have the defrost button pressed - this overrides all other controls

if your fan is just barely blowing - i have heard that this is standard on this car. it just runs all the time when the key is on.

i don't really care for it, myself. especially when i have a cab!

Here's info on the "blowing hot air all the time" thing:

Mine does this too - someplace, and I wish I could find it right now, there are some DIY on fixing this with pictures...been meaning to get around to it. Not sure if this is your problem or not...

I also had this issue, but with my old 944. The fix was the same repair described by Frank and Karl. The linkage was disconnected.

I checked and linkage and clip is ok. but bolt that holds the lower clip in place is not holding the clip in place.
