Well, after farting around for a number of years, I have decided to cancel my limited use insurance policy (2500 miles per year max, and liesure use only!) and add the 968 to my regular car insurance policy. I still opted for use during "fair" weather months (to cut down on the premium), but that only means I am not allowed to operate the '68 on the road from December thru March. Not so bad considering the coverages I have, and given the fact that I really have no desire to drive it when it's cold/snowing/icy.
So, I have been working with RSB and sooner or later, the old girl will go in for some basic service and for some items that should be done just due to age. Then I can start thinking about the required body work (some dents in hood, sagging driver's door, etc.) and subsequently a new paint job (ouch!). The new paint job is probably still a ways off in the future, but I have always wanted to get it done. And, of course, go back to trying to focus on some of the mods I have always wanted to make or need to complete:
NACA ducts
Finish my 993 wheel install (yes- for those that remember- I still have not completed my 993 steering wheel!)
Reset my airbag light (have all the stuff, just need to do it)
Recover the door panels
Tint the windows (ghetto I know, but think of it from a UV exposure perspective)
Attach my splitter (had it for at least 3 years now!)
Install a new stereo and some decent speakers
ETC.
I still am not sure how long I will keep the car (due to job changes, life changes, whatever) but I figure I should at least enjoy it while I have it. You never know when you may need to get rid of it!
That's it for now- but keep in mind I'm fickle (I still want a 993 RS clone real bad!) so how far I get is anyone's guess! Perhaps I can someday walk into my garage and fire up my custom Aventurine Green 968 turbo! I suppose anything is possible.... presuming the financial director buys into it!
