Sunday July 27 - Coffee and Cars
#1

i know it's a long trek for some of the guys in the group to make it down to orange county for our events

so..........

up in "the valley" every sunday there is an event similar to the one in orange county - this is filled with hundreds of exotic and rare cars - the last sunday of each month is the biggest event of each month - with that in mind, i thought we would make a pilgrimage to the valley and check this out on Sunday July 27

it goes from 7am to 9:30am

Village Coffee Roaster

23351 Mulholland Dr. Woodland Hills CA

818-591-2366

101 freeway - Valley Circle Blvd exit - corner of Mulholland Dr and Calabasas Rd

i could lay out a fun run too afterward if enough people wanted to

We have a Saturday morning PCA "koffee klatsch" every week in Raleigh, NC. Started out with a couple of 928 guys meeting and has now grown, sometimes out of control. Last Saturday was typical, with 20-30 cars and perhaps a few more people (counting wives and kids) cycling through between 8-10 AM. First Saturday of each month has become larger, with over 100 cars including the local Ferrari and British guys. Fabulous fun for nothing but a bit of gas (ok, maybe that is not so cheap anymore). Great way to start a weekend without getting caught up in an all-day event.

Why do I mention this in a OC/SoCal thread? Because just last week some guy named Eddie showed up for the first time, driving a gorgeous 993 Twin Turbo. He had just moved here from Irvine and heard about the event. While he had been a regular at Crystal Cove, he said that in many ways our informal sit, chat, drink coffee, look at cars event was more fun. Low key and very friendly.

So good luck with that! And if you are ever in Raleigh on a Saturday morning, stop by Camille's in Briar Creek.

oh, come on I was kidding ! I'd only do that if I had to be in the greater LA area for some reason or another during that timeframe.. and no, a sale at Barney's / Zegna / Scott &Co/ Kitson/ Segal, etc. is not compelling enough ..

( though close.. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> )

So Bob, are you still planning to come up this Sunday am? I left a message on your office # earlier today.

And what about Ron or Pete or any other So Cal people that want to meet up there or close by to drive in together?

update - still on track - trying now to nail down logisitics

trying to determine a rendezvous point offsite so that we can go in together and park together - the organizers of this event are not as structured as the orange county event, and more along the lines of crystal cove - that means it's first come first parked

ron has been up there and guesses we need to be onsite by 6:30 in order to get it all together, which means a rendezvous offsite at about 6:00 - i know it's awfully early, but if it makes anybody feel any better, that means a 4:30am departure for me

these things are always early morning affairs, and are usually over by 9:00am - so, if you are thinking "i'll just roll in after breakfast", you will have missed it

we could do a fun run afterward if people were interested, but i'd need to know so a route could be planned - or we could go to breakfast

After checking google maps there are a couple of options. There's what appears to be another shopping center just West of the car show location at Mulholland & Commons Way. Perhaps we could meet by the entrance[?].

Or if anyone has been to this event before, they could let us know which end of the parking lot is used and we can meet at the opposite end prior to driving in.

Is there anyone that lives in the Valley that knows this area...?

p.s. I would guess that they have this type of event early so as to not disturb the businesses that open at 9..

ron, who is the one that alerted me to this event in the first place, has been there, and said he was going up to scope it out and see where we should connect

As mentioned by Bob I will be doing an investigative recon this weekend. My goal is to find a meeting place close to the event and scout a possiblity for after event breakfast if anyone is interested (a drive is always a possibilty as well). There is a breakfast place in the strip mall but it is usually jammed. I have been to C & C a total of 5 times but never on the aforementioned last Sunday (the biggie) so am not sure what to expext. I've spoken to a number of the regulars and they are all in agreement of a couple of things......there will be anywhere from 500-700 cars there (as opposed to the other Sundays of the month-100 to 150) and if you are not there early (6:30-7:00) then it becomes difficult to find decent parking. Also....the times I have been in the past the event seems to run longer then the norm with people hanging around till 11-12.

Looking forward to a decent showing from the 968 community and seeing everyone.

I will post an update on Sunday after I talk with flash.
