Summer Tires in Winter
#1

Seriously, I have summer tires on my 968 and need to take it for a run, hopefully, this weekend. Since the high temperature predicted for Sunday is 38 degrees with no percipitation, is there any problem taking the car our for a run in the afternoon? Nothing high speed, just a drive of about an hour each way on four lane highways.

From my experience - as long as you're not on ice or snow, have a blast - and drive as fast as you want. (No express or implied warranty is provided.)

I have done snow in the 944 with summer tires and it was crazy. I remember going up a ramp almost sidways the whole way. An open diff gives you a little control.

No problems without the slick stuff though.

Thanks for the advice. Weather was great on Sunday, at least great for the northeast in February. It was a fantastic drive and for once I was not stopped by the local police. The new addition, cross brace and harness bar, look much better than the basic chassis brace, but I didn't have a chance to really push the car on our public roads to feel the improvement...that will have to wait until I get to a track sometime this summer. Now, I just need to add the front braces...
