Tip click..
#1

I've noticed a slight ticking sound in the rear of my "93 968 Tip at idle in N. It is RPM dependent. I do not hear it in D when stopped, but then again I can't really get out to listen. You do not hear it inside the car. Everything works perfect, smooth shifts and no strange problems. The car has 51'000 miles, and never driven too hard, I've got the "old" 911 for that ..I do not think the fluid/filter has ever been changed.. From inside the car the rear end sounds noisy. My S2 sounded the same. Really can't describe the noise, sort of like a tinny thumpi. I have thought it was from the camber-set tires I exchanged from my S2 or dampers that are wearing out. I'm putting on new tires in the next month or so, so I'll see if that helps. Any info is greatlu appreciated... Thanks !!

Check the tire treads closely for something stuck in the tread that is ticking as the wheel turns. Sometimes the simple solutions turn out to work. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.
