What RPM range for normal driving

briefly regarding "sportscars" they have to be useless for anything but sport. they cannot have a back seat, or be a hatchback. they would not have things like power seats and such either. some, like me, will argue that no true sportscar has a roof.

Hmm.. this describes a G0-KART. :-) So only go-karts can be true sports cars , eh ? LOL But yeah , the definition of sports car or GT or whatnot will vary depending on where you read about it. Each car magazine, or review has their own take on what qualifies it as a sports car or as something else. Also that criteria has changed and continues to change since 60 or 70 years ago when someone convincingly said : this is a " sports car " ! ..and then everyone subscribed to that school of thought for the next decade or two . I also happen to think our cars fit much more into the GT category , or at least that terminology as commonly viewed, if for no other reason but the similarity we bear to other cars which have been given a " GT" designation from the factory .. Maserati GT for one, but several others makers

and models before it as well..

And now I have digressed way off topic :-) . Sorry, had to let the coffee cool down a bit, and nothing better to do in the meantime :-)

lol - the easy way to separate the cars is to define their primary use. a sportscar has no other use. in a sportscar you can't even fit 2 pieces of luggage. a gt is a sporty touring car. there aren't many sportscars around any more. there are sports exotics, sport gts, and a whole lot of sport sedans, but very few true sportscars, and even those have been softened up and ladened with non-sportscar features.

i tried to turn my blue car into a sportscar. it just wasn't suited for it. i had stripped it lean, set the motor to rev, stiffened everything up, and basically ruined the car. sure, it was more fun on the track, but these cars just aren't suited well to the track. they are too big and heavy. yes, i realize a lot of people track them. people track pickup trucks too. that which makes them not suited for track though is exactly what makes them a great car on the road. to get them to do well on the track, you have to give up everything that makes them a great road car. everything has its place and best use. i wouldn't put a stripper in a job digging a ditch, and i wouldn't put your average plumber in a marathon race.

this car has a big middle rpm power band. that makes it very flexible to blast through the twisties on the way to your favorite B&B or winery. i spent a lot of time and money screwing that up in search of something it was never going to do as well as other cars. now i have found its natural tendencies and capabilities, and rather than try to hide those, i am accentuating them. i'm a lot happier now, and i think the car is too.
