Sport Classic Wheels
#1

I have fallen in love .... again <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wub.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> First it was my 968, and now it is with Sport Classic Wheels. I know that they never came original on the 968's, but I think they are the look that I am after for my Aventurine Green couple. I didn't like the original C2 5 spoke 16's, so I put on 17" 996/Boxster wheels (they were available and reasonably cheap) as in my avitar. While staring at them over the past couple of months while my car is in heated storage, I have decided that I really don't like the look of them on my 968 ... in fact I don't even like the look of them on the base 996's or Boxster's either.

I have seen them on a few members cars, and I really, really like them. But where to find them at a decent price? I would prefer a good used set (original porsche, not replicas). I have posted on Rennlist under the Boxster/S forum and on the 986 forum but no luck yet.

Does anyone have a lead on a set of 17" Sport Classic's? Or if you have them yourself, where do you get yours from.

Any info is appreciated.

This is the look I am after:

Definitely my favorite wheel on a 968, bar none. I had the 17" versions on my previous coupe.

I will tell you this- they are an utter b!tch to clean.

I got my set used from someone in the midwest a few years back. They were in very good condition.

Just keep your eyes peeled on Ebay- there was/is a set on there. When a set pops up, you should be able to get them in the $1000 range

The 18" Sport Classic II is readily available as well.

Yes, I seem to find more availability of the 18's. My 17" 996/Boxsters have brand new (less than 1000 miles) Toyo Proxes T1R's that I got a great deal on and I just love. So I want to stay with the 17's if I can find them. Do you know if they were optional only on Boxsters, or if they came on the 996 as well?

By the way, I finally finished the install of the 993 steering wheel .... WOW, it instantly updated the interior from the 80's look to a nice fresh 90's look. This may be the most satisfying modification that I have done to my 968. I know this might sound korny, but it is right in front of you all the time you are in the car, so you get to continually enjoy it, and it provides a better connection to your car ..... sorry if I am getting a little caried away, but it really is a great modification. Thanks for your help and advice on this Jim.

I have those on my son's 92 968. I picked them up locally for $400 from a guy who needed cash(finally got a deal). 7x17 fronts and 8.5x17 rears. Yes they are a bi##h to clean.
