spacers and wheels
#1

I am looking at a set of snow tires and wheels

front 225-50R16 on 7x40 16" wheels

rear 205-55R16 on 6x50 16"wheels

I have same tire sizes but wheels presently are

front 7x55

rear 8x52

Will they fit?

spacers?

I do not really understand what spacers do. I think they move the tire further out to the end of wheel well to clear shocks, brakes etc.

How do you figure out spacer size, is it just if you have a 52mm and you are putting on a 40mm you get a 12mm spacer?

Spacer goes between wheel lug plate and wheel?

Looks like you have your description backwards on the set you're considering (front vs. back). They should fit fine. Spacers help clearance issues, offset fitment issues, and can provide a wider track. You subract the spacer width from the offset of the wheel to derive total offset. Lower the number, the further towards the fender, higher the number, the closer to the shock/strut. Good luck.

Try Greimann's calculator to check for clearance issues.

If this is what you're looking at however, there should be no problems. The wheels and tires are so narrow, you have a LOT of room.

rear 225-50R16 on 7x40 16" wheels
