Nice colour! I'm still amazed how modern the car looks! if someone told me it was from 2003 I'd believe them!

Thanks Ryan. My girlfriend got a couple of lucky shots among the hundreds of pictures she took that day.

BareTor: On one of your pictures I can see that you have the Spax suspension. http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/pt65_615_-cm...pax-Suspension/

Are you happy with this setup? What is your experience? It is quite new option compared to the famous yellow Koni option so it is hard to find some info and first hand experience about them.

Hi JH6.

I know all about the difficulties of finding any solid information on the SPAX suspension.
That's why I decided to try it out, given the fact that it's soo much cheaper than KW and Koni and the lot.

When I bought them, design911 had a campaign, so I paid £499 and figured I'd give them a go.

My experiences over the last 4 months have been very positive.

Before I give any advice I must say that I have also replaced the original sway bars with M030s and installed delrin-bushings together with Racers Edge mounts.
The front strut "towers" were shot and have been replaced with Racers Edge camber plates. And the front rear castor blocks have been replaced with Elephant Racing solid monoball blocks. (not to happy with them though)

So my car isn't so stock when it comes to suspension anymore.

Anyway, here goes..

Pros:
- They are super easy when it comes to adjusting the stiffness. No jacking of car, just turn the knobs and voila!: instant race car or daily cruiser.
- They are cheap and haven't shown any signs of weakness yet.

Cons:
- They don't have brackets for the brake cooling ducts installed on the front dampers.
You'll have to spot weld the brackets from your old dampers to them if you want them. (I left them out)
- The rear dampers are somewhat narrower in the bottom mounting than the originals. Meaning that you might have to change to shorter bolts or get hold of some suitable spacers.
- I don't know the stiffness of the front springs. They are stiffer than the originals. but I can't say how much. They seem to be a good all round substitute though.

My verdict is that if you are like me, and want to use your car for both normal driving but also track days and some occasional slalom runs, this is an adequate upgrade and I'm happy.

But if you're a track junkie, you would probably be happier with something bigger and more expensive.

Hope this was helpful.

Best Regards, Tor

Tor: Thank you for useful info. I'm thinking about Spax as an interesting alternative to worn out stock suspension or Yellow Koni's. I'm more road focused than you are since I have an opportunity to drive on the track only twice a year during club events. My plan is to use M030 sway bars but stay with refreshed rubber bushings and mounts. Also I would like to install upper and lower brace. I like the easy adjust ability especially in the case of rear dumpers where Konis have to be unbolted in order to change their set up.

So except the missing brackets in front (same for GAS coilovers I heard) and required shorter bolt at the rear there weren't problems during assembly?

On their weakest setting how do they compare with the stock dampers in good condition? (some of our roads here are really terrible )

Especially with that promotion price it looks like a good option for us European 968 drivers.

No problem installing these according to my mechanic.

On the softest setting I would think that they are at least as soft as standard suspension. Maybe even softer.
My standard dampers were shot when I got the car, so I really don't know how they were supposed to be.

I've set them to about middle stiffness. A few clicks less for road, and a few clicks more for track.
No problem roadwise. (the roads in Norway are sometimes just potholes held together with grit)

Bare,
Was your coupe an original (option code 403) 17" wheel car?
Those will look great on it.

I don't think my car came with 17" option wheels. It doesn't say so on the sticker.

The Strosek wheels are up for grabs. I'm gonna try to sell them now. An idea on what they're worth?

I was thinking something like 5000 Nok or around $800 with half worn tires.
