All:
This is just a note to relate my great experience with Pete at RS Barn this week. I wanted to buy one of his headers, but wanted to do a before and after dyno test. So I proposed that we do a few pulls on my car as it was, let it cool off, install Pete's header, and do some more pulls. No problem, said Pete. We agreed to meet at his dyno guy's shop, which was incidentally several hours from his shop.
Pete showed up with not only two different headers, but a bunch of pipes and hangers to make sure it would all work with my car (my car is a 944S2 with a 968 engine, so it's kind of a Frankenstein). We then ran the before pulls, and Pete and his dyno guy swapped headers.
Due to problems with my car unrelated to the header, the dyno results were not great, though things improved with the header. The car was mysteriously missing 30-40hp.
Today I learned that the cause of the low numbers. A leakdown showed a serious problem with cylinder #3. Either a bent or burned valve, it appears. So--called Pete at 4:30 and asked him to send me a reconditioned cylinder head (I'm in a rush because i have the next several weekends booked for track events). No problem, said Pete. He'll ship it to my shop for installation next week.
Overall, this is a level of customer service that's pretty great. Just thought everyone should know.
