I have to express my appreciation. I just gotta. After a long miserable drive down through NY during rush hour I found myself 2 hours off schedule and ready to miss Pete for my 3:30 pick up of my 968. We sat in the Bronx on I95 for 2 hours. The GPS w/ live traffic re routed us twice into a situation that was no better then I95. Sigh! We get on the NJ TPK and I unleash the 270hp packed in the camry. I give Pete a call and tell him of my situation when he mentions, " There seems to be something wrong with your shifter, the linkage may be the problem". My heart sunk. As he was explaining what he found the call dropped and I needed to go back to focusing on the road anyway. After all NJ drivers can be a bit brutal.
I arrived in Newborn PA around 6:15 and to my surprise, I see my 968 before I reach the German ave. Its PETE! He's was still there tinkering and testing (we had discussed him leaving the keys as he had things to do after 5:30). "The car doesn't always go into 1st as easy as it should" he tells me. We chat about all the work done, kids, family etc. I hop in, set my Nav and start heading home. The CAR IS DRIVING LIKE NEW! DID YOU HEAR ME, <!--sizeo:4--><!--/sizeo-->LIKE NEW!<!--sizec--><!--/sizec--> My drive home was over 175 miles and through it all the car not only had zero shifting problems but was shifting very very smooth. I could only describe it as "slippery". It takes no effort on my part ot put her in gear, just a slight motion of my palm and it slides right in. Cant help but feel other people drive my car and push the shifter into gear instead of letting it slip into gear. The car sounded better, responded better and was much smoother in braking and accelerating. Actually had a few ricers in PA challenge me while I was going down 95. Left it in 6th and floored it. Very smoothly walked away from them. Then dropped in 4th and floored it. Quickly ran away from them.
Again, Pete and Max are Awesome and now I cant wait to get me exhaust.
Thanx for waiting for me Pete.
