SBDrvr: I appreciate that you're attempting to educate us, however it's safe to assume that the majority of forum members are all seasoned drivers. I've been driving for over 30 years, I am familiar with the laws and get this I have a fairly clean record. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/closedeyes.gif[/img] As an individual, I don't have to agree with the laws, but that's s whole other topic. I find it interesting that you're defending the drivers that's impeding the flow of traffic. I've seen on many occasions were a slow driver came close to causing an accident and they should've been ticketed. If they would just yield to the right, there wouldn't be a problem.

We all have different ways of dealing with rude drivers and stress in general. I'm glad that you're unaffected by careless driver - good for you. I used to live in SB and it's a lot more laid-back then L.A. or even Ventura Co. Try commuting in grid-lock traffic everyday for a few months - I bet you'll be singing a different tune. I grew up in L.A. and don't miss the traffic and careless drivers.

re: speed; one night I wanted to see how the car felt at 140, (of course there were no other cars on the highway). I have a car that's designed to cruise at that speed safely, I'm not affecting anyone else and I saved time getting home - I don't see a down side. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif[/img] If a driver is on a wide-open highway with good visibility, I feel it's illogical to restrict speed to a slow 65mph. Coincidentally the German's feel that way too...

most of our traffic laws were designed to take the moron into consideration - they have developed to serve the lowest level driver - we are all penalized because we do not want to pay to enforce stiff laws and curtail the poor driver - california is particularly lame because we don't have no fault insurance here, allowing the fear of litigation to dictate the establishment of traffic laws as the only protection - rather than make people take responsibility for their own lives and safety, and get the idiots off the road, we force everyone to live as if they were all stupid

You should see how traffic gets when there is actually a cop on the freeway. Traffic backs up, people slow down to 50, or less, and that in its self is an accident waiting to happen.

But yes as to the original post there is a portion of the population that is rude, unaware and just flat ignorant of the laws.
