Anybody near Austin have a flywheel lock
#1

Help! I borrowed a flywheel lock from a mechanic I know the last time I needed one, but he's not longer loaning out his tools (can't blame him). However, this leaves me in a bit of a jam, because I was going to change my belts this weekend, which would have worked out very well, because my wife is taking the kids for a trip over spring break. Does anybody in Austin or Central Texas (Tom in Austin, SASiverbullet?) happen to have a flywheel lock they'd be willing to load me for a few days? I'd be happy to pay a "usage fee."

Ideally, I'd like to have it this weekend, but if there's somebody out there not in Central Texas who'd be willing to mail theirs to me, I could take a day off work this coming week and do the job then. Thanks!

I donated a 6spd and Tip flywheel lock to the forums that are in Flash's possession...you can try to convince him to ship it to you in time...assuming it's not in use.

If I'd known earlier i could have borrowed it from Jones Autowerks - sorry, they're closed. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/sad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Mike- Thanks. If I can't get my hands on one this weekend, maybe I could drive down to SA after work one day this week and borrow the one you have access to, if that would be OK.

Rustech - Thanks, that's an option, too. Flash, is the one Rustech donated available?

How close are you to the 30,000 mile "have to change em" mark?

I'm about 4 weeks away from having to change my timing and balance belts, probably the April 12th weekend. I was going to borrow the lock that weekend and do the belts in my neighbors 6 car garage that has a lift.

If you can wait till that weekend you could mosey on down here and we'll do our two cars together.

If you can't wait that's fine and we'll set something up. Only drawback is you'll have to make two trips to my house in one weekend. I'm about an hour and a half away from you.

What do you want to do?

Mike,

My belts actually aren't in urgent need of replacement. It's more the time than the mileage in my case, as it's only been about 25,000 miles, but it's been close to five years (my car isn't a daily driver, obviously).

So, your offer to do our two cars together sounds great to me, but I have a few questions about the logistics. Rather than boring the rest of the community with these, let me shoot you a PM. Thanks!
