I posted a request for one a few weeks ago and did not get any offers. I ended up ordering one. When I'm finished with my belt change, hopefully next weekend, you're welcome to use the one I've ordered. After I'm done with it, it will just be taking up space.

Pelican has the flywheel lock for $63.73, and if you buy something else to bring you order up to $75, shipping is free. Considering they're needed for a belt job, which is required every three years, and for any clutch or flywheel work, or anything else that requires removal of the front pulley, it seems like a reasonable investment for any do-it-yourselfer.

Pelican has it for $85 also, maybe shipped free. I'd happily buy the 968 tool for $30 or so but it's hard to pay $64 when it only works on one car.

You also have to remember not everyone lives in the "free" shipping zone. 65.00 bucks is ok but 10 feet outside of US soil and we get to pay another 50% ++ for shipping and brokerage. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/mad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> Where the "HE double hockey sticks" is free trade when it comes to shipping fees!

This is kind of a tough one, because it's a fairly heavy little thing, so shipping is going to be somewhat expensive. And the fact that there are so few 968s around means it's unlikely you'll be able to find someone near you who has one you can borrow. I went ahead and bought one, and have used in many times (belt jobs, clutch and flywheel removal), so it was well worth it to me. Given how often you have to change belts in these cars, this seems like one of those tools every DIY'er probably ought to own.

I didn't think you could ship a fuse for $5 <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/huh.png" class="smilie" alt="" /> . But yes, it isn't exactly something you need every day. I'd be willing to loan mine, but I'm in the middle of a complete engine overhaul, and the timing of when I will be needing it is unpredictable, as I'm expecting major parts to come back from machine shops anytime now...

Thank you for the offer anyway. USPS, small flat rate box or envelope would fit the tool and even both triple square sockets for about $5.



I suppose it's moot as I just bought both the tool and a set of the XNZ's for a total of about $100.



(XZN is the formal name for the "triple square" or 12-Point Star tools).

Yep, I received it and it workd out fine. Cost me, one hour to make it and it worked out fine.

I can make a batch if I have 25 volunteers so the price will be low. Let me know by a pm.

I have one. Thing is a work of art, lol... Just mount it on a piece of marble and throw a brass plate on it and it would pass for a very heavy trophy! I haven't used mine yet but will this weekend for the clutch. I got mine used with no instructions. Where do you bolt it? Also, with the gear ring on the PP, how do you lock the flywheel for removal?
