Rear Wiper Delete Bung
#1

Hi All,

We have a simple but often asked for new product.

The rear wiper delete bungs are available now.

This part is ultra light (12 grams) and is in 2 halves (for each side of the glass). A rubber sealing ring is fitted into each side to enable a water tight seal to be obtained. The two halves simply screw together. Precision engineered by Penske.

Cost is £19.95 or $32.95 USD including free Worldwide Delivery. To order call 01908 524468 with your credit/debit card or send a PayPal to andrew@promaxmotorsport.com. Orders will be processed same day and will reach you within 24 hours (Royal Mail permitting) in the UK and 5-7 days USA.

See attached picture (showing one screwed together and one as two halves).

Have a great day!

Regards,

Andrew

that's about half of what it would cost if you got the whole list of parts from Sunset

hatch wiper - screw 477 845 333 $34.40

hatch wiper - grommet 477 955 439 $6.18

hatch wiper - washer 477 845 331 $11.94

hatch wiper - hex nut M8 N 011 118 14 $1.14

hatch wiper - sealing ring 477 827 529 A $2.04

hatch wiper - o-ring 999 707 301 40 $5.31

then there is shipping on top of that

the aarnworks part was also more expensive, and no longer on their website

unless you have a mill in your garage like dave, this looks like a good solution - two thumbs up

Couldn't have been better timing. I was just about to start looking into ways to plug the hole in my glass. You'll have an order from me in a couple of days.

If this fine, quality product is not what you are looking for and the factory solution is what you desire, Let me propose my solution.

I have a car that had the rear glass replaced and the factory rear wiper was not installed. I am missing the whole wiper assembly and I live in Oregon. Soggy, Wet Portland Oregon. Just package your whole setup including blade/arm/motor and cover and I'll send you my perfect, leak free "bung". I hate saying that.

I'll trade you mine for yours, straight across. This way we both get what we want and only pay shipping.

PM me. Thx.

Hi,

The part is made from annodised ultra light aluminium - weighs about 12g. Seals the screen nicely and looks like a factory part.

Any other questions, let me know!

All the best.

Andrew

Or you can go to any hardware store and get a black plastic plug and silicon it in place for about $2.00. I did it two years ago, fits, looks excellent, no leaks.

Does anybody who's done the rear wiper delete remember the size of the hole? Being the cheapskate that I am, I'd like to explore Beachboy's solution... Thanks.

Never mind. I went ahead and removed the rear wiper - the car does have a cleaner appearance without it, and the hatch now rises without assistance, though still not just by pressing the button in the wheelwell. So it's off to the hardware store tomorrow to see what they have to plug the hole...

Yeah, common hardware does the job for a lot less. My hardware store did not have anything in plastic but I got a "stove bolt" with a smooth, rounded head and with the nut and washers on each side of the factory rubber sealing ring it has not leaked a drop. It is a bit heavier, but not a significant amount than a plastic piece would be. Much lighter than the wiper motor, arm, blade, etc. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.

Thanks for all the advice, guys. I'll see what my local Ace has in stock; they usually have a pretty good selection of specialty nuts, bolts, and washers. Promax's solution is very elegant, but 40 bucks for a plug that's barely noticeable strikes me as a bit steep.

"$32.95 USD including free Worldwide Delivery"

At $33 bucks including shipping across the pond, this still appears to be the best cosmetic/functional aftermarket solution. I just wouldn't know where to put it on my cab.

You may be right. I went to five hardware/auto parts stores, and completely struck out finding anything that would cover the hole. I just sent Andrew from Promax an email asking him the outside diameter of his plug. The hole in the window tint around the hole for the wiper is 1-5/8" in daimeter, so any plug I use would have to be at least that large to look right.

ANY LUCK? I have been looking around a bit too without making much headway and if I can do it for just a couple of dollars and a quick trip to the hardware store, that sure beats $40 for a plug! Thanks

No, I'm afraid I continue to strike out at every turn. Andrew from Promax tells me his plug's outside diameter is 1-5/16", which would leave a noticeable untinted ring around the plug. BumperPlugs also told me they don't have anything that fits.

I spent about an hour searching the internet, and a plug the size I would need to completely fill the hole in the glass and the surrounding hole in the tint doesn't seem to exist. The only solution I can see is to go back to the tint shop and have them place an insert ring of tint to fill the gap. Then, a number of solutions would work. I'll keep you posted, but I probably won't get to the tint shop till next weekend.

Err, doesn't it strike you that going to at least 5 different suppliers and searching on the net to arrive thus far at no solution v's buying the Promaxx plug for $30 odd bucks kind of ironic? The fuel you've used and your own time plus whatever the tint shop will charge you may have cost you more than the perfect packaged solution. Not criticising here, but from the sidelines it looks like the one on offer would have been the best option. Hope you succeed.

i'm quite happy with my promax piece purchased a year ago... one thing to watch out for is the hole in my glass was quite a bit larger than the diameter of the connector screw passing through the hole - which is only to say the piece is not fool-proof - you need to center it yourself.

not we count any fools among the present company!
