Coupe or Cab?

Here is my cab with the double glove box unit removed.

in a coupe, its also carpeted. However, there are layers of glue that are almost impossible to remove sitting on top of the carpet (the seat cushions are glued on). When i removed the seats and installed the Cab cubbies, i cut out pieces of carpet and just layed them over the glue.

When you remove the coupe rear seats there is nothing but some fibre sound mat and nasty glue that holds it to the car. Mine had very little so now I have just sheet metal - now covered with sound mat (B-Quiet) and a rear seat delete carpet.

Sounds like maybe they deleted some of the carpet at some point in production? I've seen the very expensive rear seat delete molded piece for sale at D9. Where did you get just the carpet for this mod? Any photos?

I bought the carpet from appbiz.com, guy named Robert (Bob?) He's a little scattered at times but nice enough. The carpet comes in 4 pieces. I will be having them sewn together buy an upholsterer later but for now they lay there quite nicely.

Edit - Good God don't look at the dirt! The shame, rest of the car is immaculate. Can't vaccum the carpet as it's not held down.

interesting - the shot of jeff's car shows a different type of carpet than i have in either of mine - the seams are much more pronounced, and the spots where the tabs were are also much more defined - it actually looks like an aftermarket carpet kit

Almost untouched from factory. After pulling out the cubbies I did remove the rear brackets and added a small piece of carpet from the back of the cubbies to cover the area where the brackets were (you can see that). I then poked a hole through the carpet for access to the inboard seat belt nuts in the floor. All the rest of the carpets were there. Minty looks the same but I purchased a black 944 cab rear seat which I plan to install for a cleaner look.

I left the brackets in to discourage anyone from even thinking about sitting back there - they'd break their head on the chassis brace [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif[/img]|

interesting - definitely different type of carpet and seaming than either of the cars here

those brackets fold down pretty easily - pop the 2 small welds, bend them down and flatten them - then you can just pull the existing carpet up and over the flattened brackets

I'd like to ditch my rear seats. Does anyone know if the top surface of the cubby unit from the cabs sits level with the rear deck in a coupe? I'd like to have a nice big flat storage area back there.



Tho I suppose if I add a cab cubby box I'm not really saving any weight, which is my whole reason for removing the rear seats in the first place!



I suppose I'll start by removing my rear wiper first...

not quite - it sits in there just fine, but leaves fairly large gaps at the sides, due to the differences between hardtop and cab interior panels

I had the same thoughts last year, ditch the seats and put in a cubby from the cab. But then I thought, I'm ditching the seats to save weight what am I doing putting the weight right back in. SO I bought the delete carpet which weighs nothing.

Ignore the dishevelled look of the carpet as it was the winter "construction phase". I plan on having the carpet sewn together and tucked in nicely by a pro this year.

No, that is definitely the shelf offered by Porsche as standard feature in the Club Sport. My car has exactly the same. It is bolted in by using the rear seatbelt mounting points.

Depending on where you live, there's another advantage to removing the micro-seats (which, thankfully, my cab doesn't have). Around here we have diamond carpool or "commute" lanes that require at least three passengers to use them. The exception is motorcycles and two seaters. Sans the rear seats, I can jump into the diamond lane with only one passenger. With the rear seats, I'd be looking at a minimum $271 fine in most places.
