race seats
#1

Hi all, for you guys that regulars track your cars what race seats do you use, i'm just curious because after my frist track day i found that the original clubsport Recaro's did'nt offer much support in the thigh area resulting in a painfull left leg , so these may be sold and swapped for something like the cobra tech series of seats with that NASA memory foam stuff, you opinions please, regars Chris.

If you're going to track your car with any regularity, a good track seat is a nice upgrade. Far better support, particularly laterally, than you probably have with your CS Recaros.

If you're interested, I have a nice seat that is ready to go with 968 rails all mounted up in the For Sale section of this website.

Pazzer, I have sat in the seats that Chris has for sale and they really offer good support for track use. They look good as well. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.

I have used recaro pole positions and the are pretty good. i am going to go with a seat with side support like the Cobra seat. It took a big hit in a 944 and the driver raved about how well it performed. There are a lot of good seats out there so you should try to sit in as many as possible.

I'm running Kirkey Intermediate's in my car, 16" driver side, 17" passenger side. Fine for spending up to about 6 hours in them a day. Not as comfy as a Recaro, but also not the same price.

i'd check with the rules to see what type of construction is required for your class, then go sit in some and see what feels good

price should really be a secondary thing here, as driver comfort and confidence originating from a good solid butt placement is probably the single most important physical factor in driving well

I completely agree, and I have not found a seat that fits me better for track driving. I just don't think I'd want to take them cross-country yet. Now to just find the right steering wheel to match the seating position.

Hi Chris

have you taken out the foam padding inserts on the standard seats from the base and back area using just the thin top cushions. By doing this the Std CS Recaros are much deeper and offer plenty of thigh and back lateral support.

Cheers Tony, i took the base support one out, but not the back one, on track my left leg was really pressing on into the edge of the seat, i will try the back support and see if that offers some more depth for the thigh area, if not i'm seriously considering selling them and purchasing come cobra suzuka technology series seats, which are a lot deeper in the problem area. regards Chris.
