The higher number then total members is due to the spammers. They sign up for accounts to spam the forum, this increments the member number. When a spammer account is deleted the member number isn't put back in a pool or something.

Probably the last real registered member number minus the total registered number of users. That would give you a approximate number of accounts that have been deleted.
Probably a bit off topic but didn't want to start a whole new thread...
I noticed today that (now) there are about 11 members online - and 53 guests...I clicked on the link to see who is doing what (which I didn't know you could do) because I was curious what all these guests were doing - as it turns out all 53 were viewing the Blogs - of which there are few and yet generating a surprising amount of interest.
Just curious how this works - the whole guest thing (are they just web search spiders crawling around) and why they would get stuck in the blogs...
It's actually probably spammers in the Blogs, there is a slight issue with this version of the blog software and spammers. The later versions include spam prevention measures for the blogs.
