Problems with Porsche-alarm after chip change
#1

We changed the Motronic chip few weeks ago with a friend. Otherwise everything went ok, but after the chip update I have had occasional problems with Porsche alarm system

1. sometimes the wireless central locking / alarm is not working, it is impossible to open doors from car wireless, and it is impossible to switch off the alarm.

-> antenna for remote key in alarm box is not proprely placed (wireless connection problems?)

2. Sometimes doors lock even though I have not pressed the remote locking button

-> is the alarm box loose, or some wires in it, which makes it function by itself?

maybe the assembling of the boxes after chip install has not been good enough, i most likely will open the box assembly again around the motronic, and see that everything is well and firmly assembled. Would there be any special things I should take care of when assembling the boxes / alarm back to its place, to make it function properly again? How should the antenna be placed, etc?

What would be the screw specs which assemble the frame and/or boxes? we lost couple fo screws during unmounting (amateurs working, yes <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />, and It would be convenient to purchase extra screws before disassembling, so I could fix all screws which are missing, to make sure that everything is well assembled

Thanks for the insights!

Br.,

Matti

P.S. 2 weeks for the LWFW-install... more acceleration thrill anticipated.. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

As far as I knew Porsche never had a wireless alarm system for the 968's. Many have added on aftermarket alarms and keyless systems as a add onto the factory alarm though.

Check all the wire connections, since it's most likely aftermarket it's possible there are some shakey connections in there.

Apologies, I have to be more spesific. The Car has porsche alarm, which is activated from the wireless central locking. the central locking (and also alarm with it) keeps acting funnily.
