Porsche museum
#1

Not sure what category this should be in but this seemed to be the closest. Has anyone been to the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart? If so do you have any recomendations for a place to stay that is convenient and is nice hotel. Also any thoughts on viewing the museum and factory?

Cosimo,

Suggest you contact VU at PCA HQ for assistance on this - they have been very helpful to me in contacting the Museum for photos, etc.

I haven't been to the new Museum, but I did visit Stuttgart back in 2001.

I stayed at the Rega Hotel. Quite clean and comfortable, although things may have changed since then.

It's a short walk to a train station, very convenient to get to the Museum. The new Museum is right next to a train station.

From memory, it's a good 20 minute walk to the middle of Stuttgart.

I didn't drive during my visit, so can't comment on that aspect.

Looking forward to the feedback to this post, since I will be visiting the Porsche Museum and factory in March! Hope to visit the museum on the 14th or 15th of March.

Cosimo - when do you hope to be there?

My wife and two youngest daughters will also be going along (13 years old - loves to go out with Dad in the 968 for a drive! & 17 years old - owns a Miata 5-speed).

We fly with American Airlines from Vancouver via Dallas to Frankfurt, pick up a rental car and then head south to Stuttgart. After that we head over to Holland for a week (boss has an apartment there we can borrow ). Around the 24th we head down to the Paris area for a few days. We drop the rental off on the 28th and fly back from Paris to Vancouver via Dallas.

With regards to accomodation, we will be going for the "plain" end of things. The most "cost effective" that showed up on the AA website was the Golden Leaf - Stuttgart Zuffenhausen, which had a few reviews from Porsche Museum visitors. "Plain but acceptable" was the consensus, for around $54.

Any Dutch 968 owners reading this post? Maybe we can meet up!

I'll will be there around the 20 to 22 May. Going to Parma,Italy first for a needlepoint(wife's thing)show from the 12th to 16th May. Then going to Napoli for a few days and on to Stuttgart and finally Berlin. I am going to see if one of the local Porsche dealers can set a visit to the factory since we(IMA Motrosport) are a customer of their parts department.

Been there a couple of times, most recently a few months ago. We really enjoyed staying at the Schlosshotel Monrepos, which is nice, the price was great, and it's very near Zuffenhausen. Here's their website...http://www.schlosshotel-monrepos.de/index.php?HOTEL.

My wife has contacts at the factory, and this was one of the places they recommended.

If you want a factory tour, get on that now. Get your local dealer to arrange it for you.

PM me if you want more details...happy to help.
